I hope everyone has been able to take part in some fun summer activities within the past few weeks. Here at REACH we are enjoying getting to see all of the kiddos attending The 101 Open Hours. We will be continuing these throughout August. We offer snacks, games, activities, and a chance to hang out with some friends. Kids must be 8 years old or older, have their own transportation, and be able to provide parent/guardian contact information.
The 101 open hours are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m.- Noon. Around 11 a.m. we encourage kids to walk to the Food Pantry where they can pick up a free summer sack lunch. From there, they are welcome to head over to Tanner Park where the City of Waupun Park Program is offering supervised organized activities for children. The program is open from 11:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday with special events on Fridays.
There are lots of fun things to keep the kiddos engaged this summer! However, for some youth summer still poses challenges with their mental health for various reasons. MENTOR recently published a webinar on how mentoring can support young people’s mental health and well-being. It has a lot of great information even if you’re not currently a mentor. I hope you take a look!
Have a great 4th of July,
REACH Executive Director
